Another selection of shots from the streets of Cardiff, all taken with the Olympus OM-D EM-5 and 17mm lens.
First is this man reading the paper, I like the repetition of the windows, the bricks, the paving and all the leading lines they give off as they make there way through the image to the man sat reading the paper. It gives a nice sense of depth and distance. I also like how the bicycle propped up against the telegraph pole is there seemingly at random.

Next is this image of a girl, I like how she’s framed by the pole in front of her and the bench she’s sat on, keeping her in the first left third of the photograph. I also like how reflective the surface of the bench is, making it look like you’re seeing her parallel self from another dimension. Finally I like the shaft of rectangular light cutting across the image, it perfectly draws the eye to the main focus of the photograph.

Finally for this set is this image of a man walking his dog, I love everything about this, the lines and shadows all over the photograph, the sense of movement, the companionship between human and animal. And what I especially like is that this made me smile when I took it, if you look you can see the dog only has three legs, yet it was bounding about happier than any dog I’ve ever seen. I just felt really warm inside seeing anyone or anything that’s overcoming adversity and is so happy with life.
