This isn’t being added into the usual Street Photography on film series for one very good reason, none of these were taken in Cardiff. However I really liked these so had to include them of their own accord. All taken on my trip to London back in January on my Olympus OM-1 with 50mm F.Zuiko 1:1.8 lens on Fomapan Classic 100 film. Let me know your thought’s on these in the comments.
F5.6, 1/125th Sec. I love the architecture of the piazza in Covent Garden, these columns and doorway looked brilliant and just happened to have someone leaning up against them.
F5.6, 1/125th Sec. A scene you could find in most cities but I liked the set up here, the gentleman sat at a cafe table reading a magazine with a coffee, a busker setting up in the background and a crazy person in shorts in January strolling past in the shadows. Then there’s the repetition of the pillars and how they frame the subjects and split up the image as well as the large area of negative space on the far left of the image to draw your eye to the right where all the action is.
F5.6, 1/125th Sec. I was actually trying to capture the guy wearing a pair of Union Jack underpants and nothing else in the background but instead the woman who has stopped right in the way has made herself the focus of the image.
F5.6, 1/125th Sec. Another shot taken mostly for the architecture but just so happen’s to have a lot of character’s in it, the girl sat on the pavement, the two shoppers in the centre strolling through the image, the boy with his hood up to the right and the boy next to him with baseball cap and face mask. There’s even a man marching almost at speed from his body language to the far left, almost bursting into the image from just beyond shot, almost as if he’s in a hurry to get somewhere but also to get into this photograph. Then again there’s repetition, of pillars and column’s, hanging basket’s, chairs and tables, umbrella’s , window’s and lamp’s, all uniformity and symmetry.
F5.6, 1/125th Sec. I think what most stand’s out in this image is the disparity in size of the two figure’s, he is practically a giant compared to her.
F5.6, 1/125th Sec. Finally, and possibly my favourite of this set, this group of musician’s, who were playing classical music, I think it was Beethoven if my memory is right, outside a small restaurant in the basement area. I don’t even care that the bottom right has had some sort of issue on the negative as I just really like this image.
