Project 52: Week 33; Artistic – Collaboration

This week the brief was collaboration, as in collaboration with another person. I had to delve into my portfolio for this one, quite far back actually, which made me realise that I really need to do this more often. This photo was taken so long ago that it was on a Nikon D40x I no longer own with the 18-55mm kit lens it came with, yes it was that long ago.

Project 52: Week 8; Landscape – Panoramic

First off I’m going to make a confession, this image isn’t one I took recently, in fact it’s not even from the past 12 month’s. Unfortunately I just haven’t had time this week to get out and shoot, the weather hasn’t exactly been productive to this week’s theme anyway even if I did have time. On the plus side this gives me a chance to delve back in to my portfolio, back to a time when I knew even less about how to make a nice photograph as I do now.

The theme this week is “landscape – Panoramic”, you may have noticed landscape photography is one of the thing’s I particularly enjoy, you may also have noticed I haven’t ever shown any panoramic stitched images, there is a reason for that. Firstly; I’m not a huge fan of them, if you can’t tell the story you want through the image you’re taking why does stitching another 4 or 5 to it improve that? And secondly; It’s time consuming, I do not have a particularly fast computer and my version of Photoshop takes several aeon’s to process a stitched image together.

However there was a time when I did try it out and the below image is a result of that, I think it was taken in August 2014 (since that’s the folder on my meticulously documented portfolio it’s located in) and it’s of the Derwent Valley in Derbyshire, specifically taken from the top of a place called, rather fantastically “The Height’s Of Abraham”.

Some shameless self promotion

In a change from my usual postings of a nice photo (at least i think they’re nice usually) and the ramblings of myself as I describe what I like about it and the settings and camera bits and pieces used to capture said shot, I thought I’d take the time to do a bit of shameless self promotion. Below is a link to my Flickr page, on it is a large selection of photo’s I have taken over the last few years, both film and digital, and I’ve made the assumption that if perhaps you’re reading this blog on a regular basis that maybe you’d have an interest in taking a look.
